The Parent-to-Parent program provides instructional support to parents to help them acquire the skills needed to raise healthy, responsible children. Several Parent to Parent groups include parents with teens, single parents, "Dad Only", grandparents raising grandchildren and those mandated by court order.
The six week program consists of -
THREE METHODS OF DISCIPLINE
Show the connection between how they were parented versus how they are parenting by teaching the Autocratic, Permissive and Democratic Methods of Discipline
BUILDING ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Learning to change Parents negative reaction to "a Child Goal of Misbehavior".
UNDERSTANDING AND GIVING ENCOURAGMENT
Discussing the Four Basic Ingredients, which are Mutual Respect, Communicating Love, and Taking Time for Fun, and to Encourage a child's natural given gifts.
COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES -
Reflective Listening - Taking what a child says and repeating it in a way that doesn't take away a child's feelings. And I-Messages - Allows honest feelings. Makes us feel better, removes pressure of bottled-up anger or resentment. It is also the First Step toward solving problems. Parents may not agree with their child...but...parents can demonstrate that they respect their child's feelings. In other words REAL COMMUNICATION!!!

About
respect and responsibility through understanding limits established through Natural and Logical Consequences. Holding the child responsible for their behavior. Allowing children to make decisions. Permitting children to learn from Natural events or from our society's rules.
FAMILY MEETINGS
The purpose of the family meetings is for family members to come together in a positive, caring and accepting atmosphere, to share, to be heard, to plan for fun and chores, discuss any problems, and make family decisions, which all promotes family harmony.
