Services Offered:
The Henry Ryan Early Learning Center offers full-day care (6 or more hours per day) and part day care (5 hours or less per day) for children ages (3) to twelve (12). Additionally, the Henry Ryan Early Learning Center offers Pre-K and latchkey programs for youth ages six (6) to twelve (12).
Special Needs Children:
Children with special needs will be admitted to the center after a conference with the Director. The Director will determine whether the center is equipped and staffed to care for the child.
Hours Of Operation:
The Henry Ryan Early Learning Center is open from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The center is closed on the following days: New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, & Christmas Day.
Fieldtrips:
The Center provides field trips for school-aged children only during summer months (May, June, July, and August).
Transportation:
The Tucson Urban League provides transportation daily (during the school year) from Oyama Elementry to the Henry Ryan Early Learning Center.
Enrollment Procedures:
Before enrolling your child, the Tucson Urban League encourages parents and gaurdians to visit the center to become familiar with our facility and staff. Upon enrollment each child must have a completed emergency card that includes a list of authorized persons allowed to pick up your child, phone numbers to reach parent(s)/gaurdian(s) in case od an emergency and immunization record. It is important that all information provided be correct and current. Children will not be admitted without proper paperwork.Parents of children with special needs must provide an individualized care plan, special dietary plan and food allergy sheet, prior to attendance.
Disenrollment/Termination of Services:
The center reserves the right to suspend or terminate services for those individuals who are disruptive to the center's program policies or delinquent in payment of services
Charges, Fees, and Payment Requirements:
There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee due at the time of enrollment. Tuition is due according to the billing cycle chosen by the parents when enrolling. Payments must be made by money order and/or checks payable to the order of the Tucson Urban League, Inc. All payments are due in advance and in accordance to the billing cycle chosen:
Cycle One - Tuition is due on a weekly basis.
Cycle Two - Tuition is due on a bi-weekly basis.
Note: Any account which remains unpaid for seven (7) days could result in termination of services.
Late Pick-Up Fee:
A late pick-up fee will be charged to parents/gaurdians who fail to pick up their child by closing time. The fee for late pick-ups is $2 per minute/ per child. Late pick-up fees are due upon returning to the center. Failure to pick up your child on time more than three times could also result in suspension or termination of services.
Tuition Assistance:
Assistance is available through the Department of Economic Security (D.E.S.) Please see the Director for more information.
Behavior Guidance:
Caregivers provide each child with guidance that helps the child develop a positive self-image. Our program will be positive, constructive, and suited to the age and development of your child.
Positive reinforcement and redirection will be used for all children. "Time Out" will be used with children over the ages of 1 year, and only after redirection and positive reinforcement have failed. Time Out is limited to one minute per year of the child's age. A discussion will follow Time Out to help the child find a constructive manner of bahavior.
Parent Responsibilities:
Parents are encouraged to take part in their child's learning experience. We have an "Open Door Policy", and welcome unannounced visits from parents at any time. Please remember that the teacher's primary concern, while in the classroom, is the care of the children. Concerns in regards to your child should be addressed immediately with the Director.
Illness Policy:
According to the Department of Health Service Regulations, a child may not attend the center if they presently have had in the previous 24 hours:
All children will be evaluated upon arrival to the center each day. If a staff member believes a child to be ill upon arrival or throughout the day, the parent/gaurdian will be notified and asked to remove the child from the center until the child is symptom free for 24 hours. For the health and safety of all, an ill child will be secluded from the other children untill the parent/gaurdian arrives to pick them up. If a parent/gaurdian cannot be reached, then alternate persons from the emergency card list will be contacted.
In case of communicable diseases exposure, any child
who lacksevidence of immunity of communicable disease cannot be present in the facility untill the parent provides written evidence of the child's immunity, or the local health department notifies the center that the child may return.
Food Service:
The Tucson Urban League, Inc. participates in the Child Care Food Program.
Breakfast is provided at 8:00 am and lunch is provided at 12:00 pm. An afternoon snack is also provided at 3:00 pm.
Special Diets/Food Allergies:
Children with special dietary requirements and/or food allergies will be accommodated. Parents must provide a written statement indicating their child's special dietary needs. Breakfast is provided at 8:00 am and lunch is provided at 12:00 pm. An afternoon snack is also provided at 3:00 pm.
