The Tucson Urban League (TUL) Alternative to Suspension Program (ASP) provides students grades 6-12, who are suspended from school, with basic academic skills support, a safe supervised environment, decision making strategies, social skills development, and exposure to community/civic duty (through participation in community service activities).
The strength of ASP resides in the fact that it allows the student to continue to receive credit for assigned class work (provided by the referring school site). All students will receive assistance in academic areas as recommended by his/her teachers. ASP is split into two tracks. The first track consists of middle school student’s grades 6-8. The second track consists of high school student’s grades 9-12.ASP has a certified Special Education Teacher available, to assist in the adherence to all IEP’s and active 504 plans accepted by the program.
