From the Tucson Urban League President's Office

This year celebrates the Tucson Urban League’s 41st year providing hope and Empowering Communities and Changing Lives! We are celebrating a rich and fulfilling legacy of thousands of individuals over the four decades who dedicated their lives to this mission and have made it possible for hundreds of thousands of children, youth and families to receive the multitude of services and programs that the Tucson Urban League has offered. This distinguished level of service to our fellow human being has created a proven track record of pulling people out of poverty and putting them onto the path of empowerment. We are very excited about our upcoming fall season of programs and services being offered across all of our sites. For more information please click on the "What We Do" tab at the top of the page.

In the past year your support has resulted in many successes:

· Case Management Department rendered $1,709,118 in utility, rental and other assistance and has assisted through our case management process 3,000 households and 9000 individuals.

· Housing and Weatherization Services weatherized and rehabilitated over the past two years 505 homes, and rendered throughout this process over 2.3 million in improving that aging housing stock in the Tucson area.

· Employment & Training Workforce Development Department enrolled 594 new participants, 240 participants obtained full time employment positions, 180 of the positions were in the WIB target industries, and 128 participants were placed into a certified training or GED. Provided to 220 youth summer youth employment & education services, 40 youth received year round work experience services.  Conducted 865 Intakes that were processed to enroll the clients into the programs listed.

· Prevention and Intervention Services Department engaged with 300 youth ages 2 through 24 in childcare, technology, sports leadership, educational enhancement and life skills programming. Youth participants in our Intel Clubhouse placed first in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Film Project sponsored by Intel Corporation.

· Community Days of Service and Round Tables on Community Change Initiatives engaged with 1800 individuals and 400 families in volunteer service days where local community service days where local residents received food boxes, food certificates Christmas trees, toys, diapers, and other basic needs items, throughout the year. Additionally we brought 300 people together for community round tables to get their input, ideas and ideas on how to address the growing challenges that children, youth and families face.

The I AM EMPOWERED Tucson campaign is a culmination of a year’s worth of round tables, community service days, political forums, and community discussions held here in the Tucson community, where over 2,000 local community leaders and residents participated. The I AM EMPOWERED Tucson campaign will give individuals the power to join in on the collective action to bring change to the Tucson community!

The I AM EMPOWERED Campaign will galvanize thousands of people and many organizations, religious institutions, civic groups, entrepreneurs and big and small businesses to take a pledge to commit their time, talent and resources to help Tucson and Southern Arizona achieve these goals by 2025!
